TOWER OF WIND

The “Tower of Wind” will be officially opened on 02 July 2023 as part of the World Congress of Architects 2023 in Copenhagen. This architectural landmark has already been displayed in Ofelia Plads in Copenhagen since mid-June and will stand until the end of October 2023. It will then be dismantled with the aim of reuse.

The project, situated in the heart of Copenhagen, is a tribute to the world’s first meteorological observation station, the historic “Tower of the Winds” in Athens, and simultaneously points the way for future architectural endeavors.
The “Tower of Wind” was originally designed for the UIA World Congress of Architects CPH 2023. However, its innovative design, coupled with its cultural significance, has made it a major attraction for architecture enthusiasts, climate change activists and tourists alike.
This sustainable structure, built with versatile KLH® – CLT, redefines architectural norms. It stands as a towering testament to KLH’s commitment to eco-friendly construction methods and serves as a symbol of sustainable practices in the world of architecture.

But the “Tower of Wind” is not just a symbol. It offers an interactive experience that delves deep into the heart of meteorology and climate science. Inside this monumental structure, visitors can immerse themselves in real-time climate monitoring and gain important insights into climate trends.

Furthermore, the “Tower of Wind” was conceived with diversity in mind. This architectural marvel is not confined to a single purpose but can be repurposed for various uses in its later life. Whether as a summer house, a shelter in parks, or as a free-climbing tower, the structure embodies the principles of adaptability and sustainability.

It is a symbol of hope, reminding us that sustainable architecture is not just possible, but necessary in our fight against climate change. The “Tower of Wind” inspires a future where our buildings become part of the solution, rather than contributing to the problem.
